What we're learning: Foods & Child Development
In Whitney's classes students have been doing a lot of fun activities. In Foods they made pizza and in Child Developmen they had a baby food eating contest.

Landmark works to instill 5 Vital Behaviors that will keep our students on the pathway to success, no matter what they choose to do with their lives. To promote these behaviors, we award Student of the Month accolades to 5 students who have excelled at one or more of these behaviors.
For the month of September those students are the following:
Last week in Anthropology students tested soils samples to determine soil health. This data was then used to predict how early peoples in the locations of the samples acquired food and resources necessary to survive.
Last week in U.S. History, students learned about the Industrial Revolution by mapping the changes and progress of a town as the Industrial Revolution unfolded.
Once again Landmark Dragons are busier than ever. Poinsettias are on schedule finishing touches are made. Now we just watch them grow.
A new project started 1st week of September with lessons on floral arranging, succulent gardening and propagating. Each student learned all about succulents, water, light and fertilizing and how to propagate them from stem cuttings, leaf cuttings or root division.
This week in Elinda's and Carly's English classes, students are making storyboards of their mornings to better understand film as literature. Look at how hard they're working!
Last year, Landmark High School increased efforts to develop opportunities for students to be involved in internships through the school. Eric Aroca was hired as the Workplace Skills teacher/transition specialist.
Only the 2nd day of school and the Landmark Dragons are busier than ever planting and harvesting their gardens. Poinsettias are planted and rulers are in place to track their growth; enabling the students to monitor their height and lateral branching. An important step now is monitoring insect control. Placing yellow sticky cards catches small insects, revealing the species of insects and quantity of infestation.
Next week:
