Nebo Adult Education had its Recognition Night 2011-12 Thursday, May 3, at Landmark High School in Spanish Fork, Utah. During the Recognition Night Nebo Adult Education recognized students for their accomplishments of earning an Adult High School Diploma or Completion Diploma by passing the GED (General Education Development) Test. The program was honored to have 168 graduates this year.  This year the graduates’ ages ranged from 17 to 53 years old. One of the graduates from this year, Jessica Moreno is continuing her education at Imagework, a cosmetology, school in Spanish Fork. After five years of not being in school, Jessica came back. Jessica stated, “It’s hard to comeback after so many years because you don’t remember stuff, but after you start, it starts coming back.” She is 21 years old with two boys, a one- year- old and a four- year-old. She took the time out of her busy schedule to attend class. She did her homework and stayed after class for extra help when needed. Jessica mentioned that her family support was the key to her success of obtaining her diploma. In her situation, her mom was the person that motivated her to return to school and fulfill her goal.  Jessica is very thankful to her mother for all of the motivation and support she gave her while she attended GED prep courses at Nebo Adult Education.

Nebo Adult Education also offers ESL (English as Second Language) classes and was proud to recognize the ESL students for their achievement in English acquisition. The program has students from different countries in the world. Some of the countries these students come from are Russia, Belgium, Mexico, Argentina, India, Colombia, and Egypt. The program is proud to have such a diverse group of students and to have helped them achieve their goal whether it was to earn a High School Diploma, improve their literacy skills, or learn English as a second language.
