Ben Gasser is an English teacher here at Landmark. He is known for being funny and can be very straight up with you. He has a good sense of humor and can take a joke so it is easy to joke around with him. Ben is an English teacher because in college he initially studied Advertising with an Art minor. But once the internet started coming out it became harder for him to actually find a job in advertising. So, he figured instead he would go help out kids and teach them English.

He has been a teacher for a total of 16 years and has taught at Landmark High School for a total of 10 years. He likes teaching at Landmark because he likes to witness kids realize their goals and see their growth. He says that once Landmark kids “get their crap together it is beautiful to watch them grow.” He does say though, that he worries for the kids who go to Landmark. He said, “A Lot of the kids here don’t realize that high school is one of the easiest things you will have to do."

Ben’s home life includes his wife and 3 kids. His wife is a teacher at Rees Elementary. His oldest son is on a mission but will be back home this summer and will go to college for wrestling. He has a daughter who attends Maple Mountain High School. His youngest son is in 8th grade at Diamond Fork Elementary.

His favorite things to do outside of school are wrestling, go hunting, go fishing, and just being outdoors. A fun question I asked Ben was “If you were put on death row what would you choose as your last meal?.”  Ben said, “48-ounce bone-in ribeye medium rare, shrimps campy, Maine lobster tail, asparagus (from a ditch bank), and pecan pie.” Obviously, he got his food figured out! His wife is the most influential person in his life because she pushes him to want to be a better person. She also makes it so he gets stuff done.

We love Ben at Landmark because he gives you a different teacher experience. He cares for each and every one of his students and just wants to see them succeed and graduate. We love Ben for his sense of humor, his ability to be straight up, and his willingness to help out his students!
