Look out! Googly eyes have shown up in the science lab. So far the response has been mixed.
"Whoever is putting googly eyes all around the science lab please stop … it’s creeping me out." Emily
"Whoever is putting googly eyes all around the science lab please DON'T stop … it’s creeping Emily out." Chelsie
"Good looking out Emily! Keep your eyes peeled for any more of those bad boys. Iris sounding cornea here, but some pupils might just need you to keep a closer eye on them. " Carrie
Students have both Friday the 14th and Monday the 17th off school. Friday is a District Development Day for teachers and Monday is Martin Luther King Jr Day. Enjoy the time away from school. We will see you back on Tuesday, January 18th for the start of Mini-term 5!
Chelsie's Anthropology class went searching for artifacts. Their assignment was to use the correct tool to facilitate the excavation of multiple layers of sand and soil. The students then map their findings on a grid of their worksite. Some of the artifacts included axes, skeletons, and even a watering can.
Bonzo's ceramics class crafted some beautiful works of art this mini-term. Here is a small sample of their finished projects.
Thursday, January 20th 7:00-8:30 pm

Pigeons, Turtles, Sharks, Rats, and Frogs were in the dissection trays this week as students prepared their final specimens. Which one would you be most interested in presenting for a final grade? Cope and Emily's classes get to answer this question and present their findings to the class. Don't forget, Thursday is the last day of the mini-term!
Lawyer Sean Larson came to Landmark last week. He spoke to Chelsey and SueAnn's History classes about his experiences as a public defender in San Francisco and L.A. He connected his work experiences to the 6th and 4th amendments to the US Constitution that students are learning about in their coursework.
Bonzo fired up the kiln as the students put the finishing touches on their ceramics projects. The term ends next week and students are getting their work completed with the glazing and firing steps. Keep an eye out for a look at the finished projects on a future post.
